5 miles Starbuck run

I did the 5 mile Starbucks run today around midday. It was an odd run I had lots of energy, followed by none, and then more again.

28 Miles: A great running day

(Photo taken around mile 11 on map below)

Today I ran 28 miles around town. It turned out to a great overcast low 70's day for running. I ran out to a new park (for me) that I saw on the town's park website. We have driven past it but somehow I have never seen it (perhaps since I'm the driver 99% of the time).

I'm not sure exactly how much fluid I took in but it was at least 5 liters and I took in about 700 calories (a few Hammer gels, a cliff bar and some pretzels). I felt like I could run forever between miles 10-20, but felt like I could run 28 after I got past 20.

12 miles around town

Today I ran 12 miles around town. It was sunny and warm for most of the run. The Sun is no fun if it's not winter. I took in about 2.5 liters of water and 90 calories. It was somewhat of a low energy run.

5 Mile Starbucks run

Tonight I ran into town and back. Good run. Nice night for a run. I had more energy for this run but about the same level of soreness as yesterday.

Up next: The plan is to run about 5 either Monday or Tuesday, about 12 or so on Wednesday and then another 25-30 miler on Friday.

5 mile run: Good pace, low energy

Today I ran 5 miles into town and back. My pace was good but I could tell there was not much left behind that to go faster if needed. My legs are a bit sore from yesterdays 27.9 but not as bad as I thought they might be.

27.9 miles: a good day overall for a run.

Today I ran 27.9 miles. It was in the mid 70's and partly cloudy. When the Sun was blocked by the clouds, it was a nice spring day with a breeze, when the Sun was free to get me it did. Overall it was a good run. The last few were hard for sure. I plotted a course in my head around mile 14 that I knew would get me somewhere between 25-30 miles and decided just to take whatever that turned out to be rather than doing loops near home to get to a specific number.

I took in about 900 calories (2 Cliff bars and 5 gels) and 5.4 liters of water. I weighed myself before and directly after the run and lost 5 pounds. So I was still behind on liquids even after 5.4 liters. According to Runners World Calorie Calculator I burned about 4800 calories.

I came across some vultures eating a bag of dead fish along side the road and got a great shot of them (taken around mile 9 on map above).

11.3 miles: a bit of a mess

(Photo from around mile 6.5 on map below)

Today I ran 11.3 miles. The plan was for something between 12-15. It was warmer than I like and worse - the "sweat-proof" sunscreen wasn't and ran into my eyes. I was having trouble seeing and my eyes were hurting enough to send me home. The current plan is to work hard tomorrow on the job front and then do a big run (25+) on Friday. Friday is looking like a cooler day as of now.

50 min complex run/workout

I ran around the complex and power walked up the hill behind us. I'll do the same to hills with the same slope or greater on the Ultra. I didn't really push it on this workout. It was more about getting out there. Tomorrow I'll do a longer run.

5 mile Starbucks run

Tonight I ran a quick 5 miles to Starbucks and back. Good run. Off to finish making dinner.

55 min run around the complex (saturday)

Last night I ran around the complex in the rain. Lighting sent me inside 5 mins short of an hour. Better inside than dead I always say.

20.2 a run in three parts

Today I ran 20.2 miles. The plan was to run at least 14 or so but I felt good and the weather was decent so I just kept going. It was overcast with light rain at the start, sunny in the middle and cloudy at the End. I took in about 600 calories and 3 liters of water. Given I ran 20 mile Tuesday, this run went well.

20.2 Miles: The dreaded heat and sun

Today I ran 20.2 miles. It was warm and sunny for most of the run. I'm really hoping our next move is to the North or the Bay Area in CA. I took in about 400 calories and maybe 3.5 liters of water.

I ran the last 5 or so by doing loops at the local park. I was too tired to think about cars and the park has restarted the water.

A quicker 40 minute run

I did a quick 40 minute run last night around the complex. I might have been overlooking the value of shorter runs at higher speeds. I will try to add one a week of under 5 miles. It will be more of an extra run than as a replacement run.

One hour run

I did a one hour run tonight into the area's behind our complex. Decent run overall, hope to do another tomorrow. It seems like whatever winter we had is ending quickly and summer is almost here.

10 miles (wednesday)

I ran 10 simple miles on Wednesday and worked all day Friday. Need to run tomorrow.

5 mile Starbucks run with QRS

This morning I ran five miles. It was the best workout/run in a few months. Nice and cool and close enough to coffee to get that extra kick. I'm on full time kid duty until Sunday starting later today which is why I got out for a run Monday morning.

My son sent his invisible dog QRS out for a run with me this morning. No other dogs barked at me and I had the best run I've had in a long time. I think QRS will come on more runs with me.

One hour town run

Today in the late afternoon I ran into town and then just ran around till far enough to get me to an hour by the time I got back. Plan to do another run tomorrow morning. Decent run today.

One hour complex run (Saturday)

I did a very standard one hour complex run last night. Average run (not great, not bad). It was cooler than day before so that was good.

4 hour 10 minute run: Odd weather day

Today I ran for 4 hours 10 minutes. The area is/was under a tornado watch. I thought it might rain at any time so I had my phone wrapped up again and tried to stay somewhat closer to home or at least town. It was warm, humid and more sunny than I would have guessed. I really don't like warm running weather. I ran out of water as I didn't think it would be that sunny.
