A quick 5.

Today did the Starbucks and back run. High temps and lots of work kept this run short and hot.  Friday is looking good for a longer run.

7 miles: A few in the rain

Tonight I ran 7 miles in to, around and back from town. It rained hard for about half of the run. It was fun until I saw lighting. I ran home once that started.

7.3 miles, it's brutal out there.

Ran 7.3 miles this morning. It was Sunny, Hot and humid at the end with the temperature at 88 in the shade. I actually had some decent speed and my fastest mile was a good one up a hill during mile 6.

Happy to be inside now.

5 miles: I miss winter

I did a five mile run into town and back. I did an easy run as my legs are a bit sore from this week's runs. It was sunny, hot and humid.

9.3 Miles, Summer "I'm back".

This morning I ran 9.3 miles. The goal was 7-10, so it was a good run. It was 83, Sunny and hot at the end. I kept a decent pace during the run and did some sections of faster running.  High today should be in the low 90's, part of the reason I did the big run this week on Wednesday.

Up next: Short faster runs (5-7.5 miles) over the weekend. High's in the mid 90's.

22.1 Miles: A good long run and rough ending

Today I ran 22.1 miles. It was about 81 and Sunny at the end. The first 17 went fairly well, the next 4 were ok and the last one was tough. The heat caught up with me by the end. I was done. There was no real plan for a number of miles. I planned to run until it got too hot and that's what I did and what happened.  I think if I wasn't running I would have called it a nice day.

Oddly I had a bad mile 8 and thought I might have to call it short but that passed and I felt good again soon after. The summer is set to hit hard soon as the 90's are on their way. Boo!

4 mile evening run

Tonight I did a run based on the amount of time I had. I got in four good fast miles. It was a great evening run.

Up next: A long run (10-25 miles) tomorrow.

5 mile run

Tonight I ran 5 miles into town. It was warm but a good run. My legs felt fine after yesterday's run. I've been picking up the pace on runs lately.

Fiddlin Fish 5K

Today I ran the 5k in town. I remembered why I don't sign up for more 5k runs. I don't really enjoy them. This was was fine and I think people that like 5k's probably would love it.  My time was a bit better than last year (real time anyway). I started in the back and it took a bit to get to the start.

It's a good path that I run all the time but with fewer people (none) on the course at the same time.

I'm not sure I will do this one next year as our kid will not be going to the School that supports it. I don't enjoy running 3.1 miles. I like going at least 5.

7.5 miles: Water bill run

Once a month I run the water bill over to the town dropbox to save a stamp. Today was that run. It was hot and sunny.  I took this run easy as I have the 5k tomorrow morning.

5 mile Mushroom run

Today someone was home sick from school (he is fine). So a long day time run was out. Instead I did a fast 5 miles into town and back run tonight. I passed these guys on the way back. It was a good run.

5 Mile run

Tonight I ran into town and back. It was raining. Average but good run. Just ran at a natural pace.

Friday's Dozen

Today I ran 12.1 miles. It was a good run and one of my faster runs over this distance since last marathon season (the fall). I thought it might just be a slow getting-in-the-miles run but my legs felt surprising good considering I ran 17 on Wednesday and 10 yesterday. I'm not slowing down, I'm getting faster each day.
However, I plan to take tomorrow off. It's a busy non-running day.

10.1 Mile run.

Today I ran 10.1 miles. It was a good but sunny run. It felt warmer than it actually was but that was likely due to the Sun.  It was a good pace run. I'm feeling great lately which I guess is not a surprise since I trained and tapered for a 41 mile run I never did.

The aim of this run was to try to figure out what pace I can run 10 miles at without crashing. My ultra pace is about finishing only and my 5k pace just about going under a sprint pace, I don't know yet what my 10 mile pace is. It probably didn't help I ran 17 yesterday but I didn't actually feel those miles in my legs.

17.1 Miles: New trail

Today I ran 17.1 miles around town. I'm trying to pick up the pace a bit since my next two official runs are shorter ones (10 and 3.1 miles) but also wanted to do a longer run and 17 seemed to be a good blend of both. It was mid-70's and sunny at the end. It felt warm in the Sun and ok in the shade.

I didn't have much of a plan for where I was running today. It was mainly based on whatever way was easy to go at each intersection based on the traffic. I did run across a new great shaded trail today at the park (the loop between miles 7 and 8 on the map and photo above).

Up next: I might be able to get a run in tomorrow. Friday is shaping up to be a 10-11 mile run.

4.5 mile run

Tonight I ran around the local park and back. A bit of speed work for me. Good run but lots of sweat in my eyes.

Up next: A run between 10-20 miles depending on how well work goes in the morning.

5K around the complex

I ran a good 5k (3.1 miles) around the complex. It was raining and storming and did not want to go far from home in case it got worse. My next run is a 5k (in two weeks) so doing one tonight made sense.

Bucket list to Two Bear Marathon

Today I signed up for the Two Bear Marathon in Whitefish, MT.

This race moves from my Bucket list of runs to one I am signed up for. I love it!

"Participants may encounter wildlife on any portion of the Two Bear Marathon/Half Marathon.  Indigenous wildlife includes grizzly bear, black bear, coyotes, mountain lions, wolves, moose, elk, and deer.  The actions of wildlife toward participants are unpredictable and assumed to be dangerous. "

Fall Triple Dip: A marathon in Sept, Oct and November!

8 miles: No regrets

I did an 8 run to the park and back in the mid-morning. It was in the low 80's and humid. It's now 89 and Sunny. No regrets about not doing the Strolling Jim. I'd be running/walking right now and trying not to die.

2.5 miles (Friday)

Friday was a heavy work day.  I went for a quick run in the middle of the afternoon. It was hot.

5 mile and ducking out of the Strolling Jim

I just finished a 5 mile run in heat. Similar conditions are forecast for the Strolling Jim. I'm out of the Strolling Jim* (emailed the Race director). I finished it last year. I would be trying to prove I could finish it in the heat.  This is not something I care about proving nor would I have fun. I run to have fun. It's that simple.

I loved running in zero degree windy weather in Montana. I do not like running in the heat in the south.

Here is a good example from my blog (Yoda run) about me and the heat.

*I'm deferred to next year
