10.7 (Saturday)



Saturday morning I ran 10.7 miles. It was a good fun run. Thunderstorms and heavy rain kept me inside Sunday night for the planned hill workout.

Friday: 9.8 miles and new shoes



Yesterday I ran 9.8 miles and was breaking in new shoes. I've had the same pair (above) for about a year. Just about every year for the past 12 I've gotten the new model of the line of running shoes I have been wearing. This year that new model costs 130 bucks. I looked around and found I could get two pairs of last years model for the same price. So I order two pairs of this model shoe that lasted me a year. I know they worked or at least did no harm, so why not stick with them.

Running note: The family schedule has been poor for running and is likely to remain so in the near future. I'll run when I can. This weekend should be alright but next week is looking poor.

5 mile Starbucks run

I did the 5 five Starbucks run. Second day in a row where I felt like I'm getting sick again but also had a good run. It was in the 20's but no wind and sunny. It was perfect.

Saturday: 1 hour hill workout

I feel like I might be getting another cold/flu but this was a good workout. The kind you have enough energy to tire yourself out but also feel like you could keep going. I ran at night and the cool temps helped.

About 18 miles

Today I ran to the local park and then just did laps. It was one of those days I didn't want to think about cars and just wanted to run and zone out. I counted my laps on the 0.9 mile course. If I counted right then I did about 18 miles. The time seemed to be about right. I was tired during and after the run.

About 11 miles: Worms on the ground, hawks in the sky.


Today I ran about 11 miles. It was very cloudy and it rained on and off. The GPS had me running 23 miles but also gave me a warning about not getting a good GPS signal. There is no way I ran 23 miles; based on my past run maps I'm guessing it was around 11. Today was/is busy in terms of work but Friday is setting up well for a long run.

Today saw I hawk take out a bird on the grass. I saw it dive straight into the ground and bunch of feathers went flying before it took off with lunch. As I left the house, I saw a bunch of worms escaping the ground as the heavy rains soaked in. I wonder if there is a connection between the number of hawks I saw today and the rain. The birds seemed to be feeding on the worms and the hawks seem to be out hunting the other birds.

I did the Starbucks and back run this morning. Another average run, hopefully I have a good one soon. Finally feeling close to 100%.

12.7 Miles


Today I ran 12.7 miles. I didn't feel all that great so I didn't hit the closer to 15 miles I was planning. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

10.3 miles


Today I ran 10.3 miles. Easy easy would be the way to describe the pace. The idea today was just to go 10 at any pace. I'm still not 100% but I'm getting better. The plan for Friday is for a long run in the 15 mile range and then aim for a near 20 mile run the following week.

1 hr hill workout (Sunday)

Sunday night I did a 1 hour hill workout. I might try to do this workout twice a month (at least) as prep for the hilly Strolling Jim course. Starting to feel a bit better but not 100% yet. Off to run today.

6.8 miles (Saturday)


Yesterday I ran 6.8 miles. The sickness lingers but I think I'm on the upswing. It was an easy 6.8.
