6.3 miles

Phot0: from mile 3 on map below.

Today I ran 6.3 miles (no water, no calories). I did and out and back. I'm not a big fan of out and back but I'm running in a new area for me. The pace was decent for how well I felt and for how cold it was (20's). The sickness (a bad cough) is still here. I'm ready for it to leave.

4.4 miles (Friday)

Yesterday I ran 4.4 miles. The sickness lingers and the running is slow. Ran mainly just to keep from losing whatever fitness I have.

1 hour: warm up and hill repeats

Tonight I did a warm up run of about two miles and then spent the rest of my time (1 hr) doing hill repeats up the water towel hill behind the complex. It was a good workout. The sickness lingers.

5 mile run: The sickness

Today I ran 5 miles, the Starbucks run. Our family has been fighting the "sickness" for about a week now. I still don't feel great but was sick of not running. I'm not sure if running today was the best thing to do but ran because I was sick of not running outside.

5 treadmill miles (Friday)

Friday I did a slow five miles on the treadmill. What fun.

5 miles: Another day another dog

I did the standard 5 mile run today (full time kid duty starts later today). Got chased by another dog. A trash can lid nearby provided a great weapon. I'm glad we don't live in the wild west but think a 6 shooter would come in handy with these dogs.

Franklin, TN: Top small town to get chased by a dog in.

23.2 miles: Not a new plan

Today I ran 23.2 miles (1.8 liters of water, 400 calories). I have not run since the last 20+ mile run. This is not new running plan - running 20 miles once a week. Wednesday was a huge work day but that wrapped up a major project. I should have more time moving forward, but not this weekend and coming week as again I am on full time kid duty.

22.1 miles: Hold on to both ends

(Photo above taken around mile 16 on map below)

Today I ran 22.1 miles (1.8 liters of water and about 500 calories). I only now remembered the marathon was less than two weeks ago. Oh well, I wanted to do a long run so I did. Plus I was thinking more about this weekend when I will be on full time kid duty (=no outside runs).

The key to long runs is to set a distance or time goal at one end and then hang on till the other end of the run. The same can be said about dog leashes. They really only work when the human or a post is on one end and the dog is on the other.

Two medium size mutts ran after me today in a park, one was maybe just along for the fun but the other was after me for sure. I got mad and turned the tables on them. I almost got a good kick into the mean one. They took off back to the human. Both dogs had a leash on, but nobody was on the other end.
